Outline of 2 month Practical Masterclass 2025
New Masterclass Practical Course for 2025
A new Practical course will now be taking place over 5 Fridays in Reading Berkshire UK which will complement the online underpinning theory and knowledge covered in films 1 – 4. Current confirmed dates of the Practical Course Friday Sept 5th, Friday Sept 19th, Friday Oct 3rd, Friday Oct 17th, Friday Oct 31st 2025.
The Practical Course is based around the General Osteopathic Treatment approach that has been updated to work in a modern clinical setting. Howard’s 28 years of Osteopathic practice identified that the Osteopathic approach needed to take account of the modern cohorts of patients. This Practical Course is only available to current RQ Osteopathic students and qualified registered Osteopaths and it will be assumed that you have an understanding of Anatomy and Physiology.
A key feature of this course is to convert what would be understood as ‘medical A and P’ and transform this into an Osteopathic understanding of how the body works. This will open up a world of clinical reasoning that will transform your practice.
Original Osteopathic texts on principles and practice do not take account of the modern lifestyle and the palliative approaches that modern patients present with – two important reasons that demanded an update of how a modern Osteopath may approach modern clinical practice. This advanced Constitutional Osteopathic Course will reflect the application of practical work that will make total sense in a modern clinical setting that is firmly based on Osteopathic Principles – evolved.
This Practical Course is an extension of the original British Institute of Osteopathy Practical Course that ran in Reading for 15 years and has successfully trained over 60 Osteopaths to transform their daily practices into thriving clinics. Now we are able to offer a Masterclass course over 2 months than enables you to complete the online underpinning knowledge and theory course in advance of the 6 masterclasses of applied Osteopathic technique. This means the 5 session Practical Course can really focus on making your General Osteopathic work the best it can be. We will also cover patient management in the application of the routine involving a comprehensive understanding of treatment reactions and pathways to health using this powerful constitutional approach. The course will show you how to open up a case, develop a treatment rational and most importantly support the patient to a better level of health.
We believe that no other course offers the depth of applied knowledge that this course offers because it is based on clinical evidence of results taken from Howard’s own practice, to show you the logic, application and results from this approach. Every approach and principle can be demonstrated from a real case history base and we are really excited to be up and running this transformative course once again, but in a more accessible way.
The Practical Course with all 4 films combined offers up to 90 hours of CPD, all in one place, 45+ learning by oneself and up to 30+ hours learning with others. There are also options for one to one sessions with Howard to really nail your Osteopathic General Treatment available only to delegates who have taken BIO Practical Courses.
The course is held at a venue that is an easy 30 min taxi ride from Heathrow airport and many Osteopathic delegates have successfully travelled in and out for the day during the time we previously ran the course, with no issues. Reading station is 23 minutes from Paddington Station and the venue is a 20 minute walk or a short bus ride from the station.

- If you have not already purchased the online 4 films underpinning knowledge and theory course – the price is £1750
Please choose the correct option as it is a requirement to have the online 4 films underpinning knowledge and theory course so that we can focus on Practical and you also join the Practical Course with a level of understanding that will help you get the most out of applied learning. Once you have purchased the Practical Course you will be eligible to access the new BIO member’s area for Practical Course delegates only can view films and training resources related to the course. If you cannot access the BIO member’s area please email [email protected] and he will update your account to allow access.
Whilst on this Practical Course, for the duration of the course you will have phone and email access to Howard for mentoring on cases. There is an option going forwards, to extend membership of BIO through a monthly subscription. The BIO member’s area will be a good resource for your CPD going forwards.
